Love For Block Prints

Hello Everyone!!!, First of all I wish all the wonderful women around the world HAPPY WOMEN’s DAY !!! 🧚‍♀️. I am so proud to be a women 👩‍💼.For me the word Women means a lot , it defines bravery, fearlessness, commitment, responsible and not giving up on her dreams . I got lot of motivation and zeal from most wonderful women on the Earth —my MOM, this post is dedicated to her and all women out there who inspire me to march towards my dreams.

This post is all about depicting Indian fabrics with contemporary style. My mom loves these fabrics her favorites are chiffon, georgette, silk and cotton even I developed interest on them because of her. My taste is more ethnic I prefer ikkat , pochampali and block prints more on Indian fabrics they give a modern look with traditional touch . The current on going trend in market is block prints and Ikkat. Many designers have fallen for them. The two outfits I have chosen are for family/ friends gatherings and religions gatherings as well.

I think I gave a lot of introduction, so now it’s time for my first outfit, I bought this from Fabindia- they have a huge collection of handmade ethnic fabrics. Its a flared long block print kurta. I liked the way they came with regular colors in a scenic way and red green and cream are most widely used colors so anyone would look good on this. What made me go for this one was the neck pattern it had boat neck pattern with frills near the shoulder . This was first time I had something like this. Coming to accessories, I’m not huge fan so I went with Jumkas you can also go with small studs or medium sized earring don’t go for too long ones, and simple chain on the neck like mine would be suitable , you can go with a single bangle or bracelet
And even watch would pair perfect as well. For footwear you can either go with my choice jutis that I wore as in the picture or any flats or ballet flats and even sandals would look good to.

The my next outfit is from Max, this is first time I have tried this store , I am impressed by their collection. This also has a flared style but this is like a maxi dress pattern kurta. It’s basically tie and die cotton kurta which gives you an impression of block pattern. I really love the colors, because of the colors I wanted this dress. Texture of this cloth is very smooth and soft . I accessorized this outfit similar lo the above one. Go for small and medium sized earrings , you can avoid wearing anything around neck as this outfit has closed neck style. I choose white heels ,as the kurta has bright colors so I didn’t want to over power my outfit, so white was the best option, even tan would also go.

For my Makeup I used Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, bare minerals Pro powder, Rubywoo by MAC and Loreal divine wine lipstick shades.

Lastly spring is almost here, can’t wait for it no more snow.I’m so happy about it . This time Michigan had lots of snow and now its time for more sun and long duration of day.I hope you guys have fun reading this post and find some interesting ideas for your outfits. Waiting for your thoughts on this post…..

How to dress up for Traditional Occasions

Hi guys, we are back again, hope you guys are doing great!!!. It’s always fun to share my thoughts with you :). So, last weekend I had to attend a traditional Event which was hosted by my cousins, it was a get together party. So, they had a dress code which was traditional attire. I dint want to dress up in pure traditional outfit like saree, but not even in regular tunics and leggings. I wanted my look to be ethnic and traditional, so I choose cotton umbrella Pattern dress, with chiffon dupatta and matching legging.

Thanks to my mom, she was the one who designed this outfit for me. Umbrella Pattern is similar to Anarkali pattern, but the difference is the way the flares are stitched, if you have a stout personality then umbrella outfit would make you look sleek where as Anarkali makes you look more stout, that’s why I love umbrella Pattern. Moreover, cottons are comfortable choice for summers

Now coming back to my outfit, it is a unique color combination navy blue and brick red, with gorgeous Kalamkari print which is type of hand painted or block printed cotton textile, Kalamkari print is perfect on cotton Fabric, they add more color and texture to it, and more over it is one of the ancient textile, so my mom purchased the cloth from a wholesale store and the stitched it. So, for dupatta, as the whole dress was printed, she suggested plain dupatta with border would be a perfect match, so she dyed the chiffon dupatta with blue and border of brick red and thin golden threads over the border, they all blended together.

For my foot wear I wanted flats specifically, so I choose to go with glitter shoes from Nine west, they are amazing I love the shade and were comfortable to, you can even go for Pumps and Juttis as well, (Jutties are nothing but Indian flat shoes) and Jewelry, you don’t need to much of it, just big Jhumkas or chandbalis (big earrings). As mine was full hands I dint needed any watch /bangles/bracelet, but if you still want to you can choose any one of them and lastly hand bag I was bit lazy so for this event, I dint had it with me, but I would say go for a golden or cream color clutch. You would look Pretty 🙂

I hope you guys love it share your thoughts, let me know if you want me to share my jewelry pics, I would love to do that.

Love,
